2011 has been a busy year already

2011 has brought a lot of good thing so far. One thing we have had is SNOW and LOTS of it. for the 2010/2011 snow season throught april of 2011 we have had over NINE FEET of snow. one of the snowiest seasons in quite a long time! The weather has not been that great so far for spring bringing snow on April fools day and on the first day of Spring a whopper of a storm that gave Deerfield almost 12 inches of snow in one storm. When it will stop we have no idea but as of Saturday (just 4 days ago ) we got another inch on the ground. luckily between these storms we have had warm days and nothing still remains in my yard but man it is pretty upsetting to look out the window in Late April and see a storm. LOL anywhoo enough about the weather. This January Liz turned 14 and was able to attend dances.Of course there was on on her birthday! February: More snow and sledding. March started bringing us Babies. Animal babies that is. They started on St Patricks day with our first Lambs 2 girls. Then we proceded to have 3 more goats.(1 died :( ) and then lots of baby chicks and ducklings.We aquired 3 additional cows and one was pregnant. So a Baby girl cow was born to her. Last of all was today when our Icelandic sheep had her first babies. Twins! One boy and one girl . It has been a wonderful year for the barnyard.

We also have had a wonderful year with our business. things have been going well. I am able to quit work and hire a secretary so that in the fall I can pursue my surgical tech goal. We were also able to pave the driveway and parking lot this week. so things are going well.

The kids have been growing like weeds. "little" Eric has grown 9 inches in the last nine months and is now 5'11 1/2" CRAZY!!!! Liz and Jake have grown too but not that fast :

Can't wait to see what the rest of the year is going to give us, but so far it has been the best year in quite a few years.

This Month we had a Ward Luau/campout at our house . Erics Dad &Joyce came for a visit and I turned 35. Jake found a monarch catapillar and it grew. School starts back in 16 days........2 more days off till school starts. have made a bunch of Beach and Lake trips. Good times :)

Emily turns 18 and graduates high school,lizzie and I went to see Taylor swift at Gillette staduim in Foxboro MA, and Lizzie is a bird girl in seusical the musical at her school.

So Since last August lots of crazy things have been going on.
After enjoying the trip out to the west coast and back. We enjoyed having Eric's Dad here for a time. Unfortunatly he ended up in the Hospital with a Bleeding ulcer and we spent a few days visiting him there. While not our choice (or his) to visit we still got to spend time with him . so that was a good thing. He is doing well and recovered from this ,which is good. we are actually currently waiting for his next visit Due Aug 4th of this year and hope that it will go alot smoother this time. :)
In September we settled into our fall routine of school,sports,and work as usual. and the next two months were uneventful. Unfortunately on November 9th of 2009 we had a shock of our lives. We had a devastating house fire. We lost our Dogs (all three of them ) and our home,along with most of our possessions . The enormous blessing in this was that we were not home at the time and our little family was spared. While this was one of the most horrific experiences in my life. I still get choked up knowing the Lord had a hand in saving my children. We (Eric and I ) had contemplated going out on a bike ride with out the kids and leaving them there alone. We both felt that we should take the kids with us.I for one am extremely grateful that we listened to that still small voice that night.The fire Chief later told us that if anyone was home we wouldn't have made it out due to the smoke. Although the contents that we were able to save fit into a small shed outside our old house. Our Children are with us.
The blessings that came after completely blew us away mentally. The help from our community and our church , Family and Friends was (I really don't know the appropriate word) ....incomprehensible . Within 24 hours we were completely outfitted with clothes, food, money ,furniture,and help. Our new/old home was cleaned and stocked. We lacked nothing. The spirit in our home was tangible as was the love that we received. People we didn't even know stopped by to give us aid and help came from near and far.to Thank these people both known and unknown seems inadequate. They deserve much more than that. To those who read this and did not get a thank you. Thank you! All who helped will be blessed for such a great deed done that day and the many days after.There is a special place waiting in Heaven for people like that!
December brought Christmas . This was a wonderful blessing . We were in our old home (half of it just next door to the home that had the fire) our tree was little but we had a wonderful time with friends and family.
The new year brought new furniture ,new clothes, new "things" .We had mixed feelings about it but mostly felt blessed.
In the spring My grandmother of 98 years passed away. while we were all sad to see her go . She lived her life well with out a lot of suffering well into her 97th year only to have old age creep up and do its thing in her 98th year.We were all privileged to know and learn from her.
The spring also brought us to a new building for Our business. We are now in Deerfield. It took us 3 years to get here but are glad that we are. We are enjoying the blessing of owning and operating from our newly built shop.Built by our own blood seat and tears.The American Dream. It is on our home site and we have the ability to be close so that has mixed benefits. But has been really good mostly.
Eric had a wonderful trip with his sister to the great state of Idaho to see his Dad also this spring.
He had a great time and brought home lots of Lava rock from a volcano he went to while out there.
Other than that Summer is here and we are enjoying this heat that most are complaining about.
My garden is doing really well, Jakie lost his first tooth and Liz and Eric are growing like weeds.Eric is taller than My 5'7" and is in a size 13 shoe . He is only 11.
Now it is time to get some pics up. Hope that you all enjoyed the update. Hopefully I will do better from this point on to keep this thing updated :)

Ok so last night I am out with the hubby for a ride on the bike. We hit a dirt road and me being the goof that I am start being like a kids and saying ahhhhhhh as we go over the bumps. Then I start laughing at myself. With my mouth open while riding my bike(you know where this is going). Yup I swallow a bug, laughing -start coughing and choking while still laughing because I thought man I was pretty stupid. while on the back of the bike. Now Eric is Laughing at me because he knows I am the dork that I am. and I am thinking we are so going to crash. Good thing it was on the back roads and no one saw us. too funny!

Trip to Cali

Ok so we left Nh on June 28th at 8 am Heading west. Me , My Mom, and my three kids. We traveled by Car and My mom pulled her camper with her pickup. We took 2 vehicles because although we each had room for 5 it would not be comfortable for us all to take one. We traveled through 23 States. Started at Nh then Mass, New york, PA, Ohio,Indianna,Illinois, Iowa,Nebraska,Colorado,Utah,Nevada,Cali,Arizona,New Mexico, Texas,Oklahoma,Arkansas,Tennesee,Va,West VA, Maryland,Conneticut, Mass ,and Nh again.

We camped each night . It took us 6 days to get out there arriving in Cali at about 3:30 pm on July 3rd.We stayed with my Aunt and Uncles for 7 days leaving Saturday the 11th at 10 am to return home. We returned home on July 16th at about 6:30 pm.Our rule was that one older child had to be with each adult to help navigate etc. I was the designated Navigator (yeah, I know) at the end of day one travels I asked my Mom so where is your map ? She says I don't have any I am just following you. What faith. I know I wouldn't have had that much faith in me.

We really had a great time!We saw a ton of new new things. On the way there our goal sights were: The Iowa Windmills, Stopping to see Anna, Denver Co, and the Rockies,Bryce Canyon in Utah, we also saw Zion national park (drove through it actually) .We had to pay to go through, $25 per car and my Mom had to pay for her Camper too So$75 total to drive through a mountain. HMMMM who ever said those mormons were dumb????Funny I went through aprox half of Utah and never saw one temple.LOL

When we got t Cali. we had a family Cookout with all the cousins etc. That was great fun to see them after 20 years.We went to Sea world ,Las Vegas and stayed at Circus Circus . A Hotel that had an amusement park, casino and circus inside of it. Really cool! We went to Disney Land and Ca Adventure, Hollywood,and Knotts Berry Farm. I also got to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time Ever. It was just around the corner from Sea World.In San Diego ?I think. My Cousin Called it Ski Beach.

On our way home we saw the Grand Canyon, The cadillac Grave yard in Amarillo TX.That was cool we got to paint on the cars with spray paint. We also went to Nashville to see the grand old Oprey. There was alot more to see but I would never get my pics posted if I told you everything.lol so here are the much awaited pics Enjoy!

So we are on our way home from big Eric's surgical follow up (which was great and he doesn't have any more appts 2 1/2 hours away YEAHHH)And we stop in at the temple in Belmont to go to the store they have there.( we are always there when the store is closed)

Jacob looks out the window and yells " We are at the temple Mom! Are you marrying me? " too cute ! I just love those moments :)

finally some Drama

Yeah like I need more Drama, but I guess it was a little slow so I had to spice things up. Here is what has been going on of late.
Liz has science fair ,an Egyptian project, and an Irish diorama due by April 2nd. yeah I was like OK and she only has ONE teacher. Can't even fathom what where that thought process was going..... She did her science fair project on whether soda eats away at nails. There is a theory out there that if you put a nail in a can of coke it will dissolve in 3-4 days. well theory proven wrong. she did it 3 x for 8 days each with 4 types of Soda (can you tell why I wonder about OCD)and well sprite is a good cleaning agent and dr pepper too. but other than that all she got was a bunch of rusty nails. Oh and she used 3 types of nails to make sure too....
Little Eric has a biography due April 2nd with a 2 1/2 page report, 3 visual projects. (a quilt, a diorama, and a treasure box) along with having to do an oral presentation dressed as the person he is doing his biography on. He is Doing Steve Irwin. He was also on the winning team for b-ball and went into playoffs and was until Saturday playing 4 x per week and having 2 practices in between games. He is also in Cub scouts. Crazy! But after this week things will settle down again . So that is really good.Oh and we had 3 baby goats delivered last week and this week. One died .Poor little thing. Too cold and he was born in the middle of the night.
They were all Angoras They are very cute. Pics to come soon. We have one more Pregnant MaMa and then we will be done with that part of our spring. I think next week things will settle down. But I had better knock on wood really quickly lol.

Ok so here are some pics that I have been asked for. Our horses Venus a 20 yr old mare (standard bred) she used to be a racing horse she is Chestnut color Very pretty! Cody is our appollusa he is 15 yrs old they are both 15 1/2 and 16 hands tall . Lizzie has ridden Cody but we just got Venus so we thought we should let her get used to us for a couple of weeks before hopping on her.

Our angoras in the snow , but our sannens do not want to go out they would rather stay in the warm barn LOL

5:Keep up with My accounting faithfully at work.

Hope that all of you have a safe, happy and healthy Christmas and New year.
We will be having a white christmas as Friday dumped about 9 inches on us and the we got an additional foot on Sunday.I don't know about any where else in the state, but it snowed in Deerfield from friday at 2 pm to the middle of the night Sunday.I won't say it was blizzard like the whole time but the snow didnt stop that whole time.CRAZY!
My Kids are glad and having a fun time. From the ice storm 1 1/2 weeks ago there are still about 20,000 people w/o power. The storms didn't take out power, but The cars and trucks that hit the power poles sure did. I just hope those that have been without power for now 12 days will have it back for Christmas.

Round 2

Ok so the beginning of the week had us mopping up the floor and the end of the week had us using our generator to power the freezers.

Thursday night a loud bang was heard and boom no power. We looked out the window to see a large limb of our front pine hanging on our phone line. They stretch, did you know that? By morning it had snapped and the front yard was full of FROZEN debris . and Lots and lots of tree branches. No power was to be had until 6:30 Saturday night . Yup that was a personal record for us at 43 hours without power.We were warm and had generator power at least . So that was good and the kids thought it was fun too.there were a total of 500,000 people in southern NH without power and today there is 182,000 still without power. I count my blessings that we heeded the warning of being prepared. They said this was the largest power outage in NH since 1954.

Everything was Ice, every where. It was really beautiful, actually, to drive around and look at.

3 am Waterfall

OK picture this. 3 AM Monday night (Tues morn- whatever) I get up to put Jake back into his own bed and hear water running in the dining room. What the...... I go into the kitchen figuring a pipe burst downstairs. There is water coming from the light socket (luckily not the one I had just turned on)Gushing water- hose like -out of the light socket In the ceiling. And down the walls and all over the floor into the basement. I yell "Eric Where is the shut off and Find out where the water is coming from." He runs to Little Erics Room to find water spraying all over the bedroom and our son sleeping in his bed. yeah, he slept right through it. HELLOOOO. I shut off the water in the basement and big Eric mops up the bedroom and I mop up the dining room. What was on the dining room table???? Liz's Homework, but not only her homework but her Binder, My new Moon book, that she was borrowing (GRRRR). Her reading book for school...basically all her school stuff except her backpack which was on the floor next to the table.That was full of water as well.
Things to be thankful for:
1: We have An old house. A really old house . This means Tin Ceilings that dry really quickly and won't mold.and that don't fall apart because there is multiple gallons of water pouring down on them. Also this means that I have crooked floors, that water runs right into the other blessing; a dirt floor basement . Also Slat wood floors in the upstairs bedroom and no carpeting,that water can just run through to the tin ceiling below it and there is also No insulation between the floor and the ceiling so no mold issue there either.
2:Very minimal damage; Just have to paint the wall that the water ran down. Didn't even need to replace it.
3: An Awesome Daughter that did not yell, scream, or throw a temper tantrum, because she in all right had a very good reasson to. Considering all of her stuff was damaged. Nope, she and I just used a hairdryer and the blower from our fireplace to dry the books, papers, folders, etc,etc, It took us 2 hours and she never complained once.And nothing was destroyed, we were able to dry all of it.
4: My dog Abby, that was tring to tell me and big Eric that something was wrong. In fact She woke us up and we both were saying 2 minutes before I went to put Jake back in bed. "What the heck is wrong with the dog, she's going crazy????"
5: That I have an unusual amount of beach towels for someone who lives in NH....why did I buy that many????? They sure did come in handy.
As for the pipe that burst, it had a leak in the seam of a connector , so that was and easy fix as well. Especially since all the water ran out of it ....
What was I saying the other day to Anna? That I haven't had much drama lately. I really need to stop saying that.....

The Ball????

So Jake asks me how Santa can see him all the time and I tell him that he has a crystal ball and watches us all the time to make sure we are good. Kind of like Jesus, only he has to have the ball.....
Well....We are in the car the other day and Jake is being loud and well.... boy like.... and Isay "Jake Santa's watching." he says "You know what.. I think he threw out that ball he has mom"

September, Jacob turned 4 and it was also turkey season. 7 turkeys are now in our freezer and just to spice things up Jake decided to pull some ramen noodles out of the microwave and got a 3rd degree burn on his chest.The bandages are more than it looks . He has sensitive skin and cannot use tape so the burn was actually only about 3inches in diameter (bad enough) after many trips to SShriner's Jake is fine with only a fading pink scar. NO surgery!!!Yeah.
A new addition to auntie Beth's family. My mom Holds the newest of us. Madeline Hope. Appropriately named I think!

Move-A-Long-a-Thon

OK so there was this running/biking/scateboarding/scooter(basically any one thing you wanted to do to "move") thing at Liz's school today and you had to do 1/4 mile laps around the parking lot. This was to raise money for Enviromental camp for the 6th Grade.So Liz ran ,and she did 28 laps! Doing the Math ,that was 7 miles! And to boot , she did it in ONE hr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok today at work we have this superman cape that we got one of our guys . We got it at six flags. So Jake puts it on climbs up on top of a stool and jumps off looking frustrated.I say to him You do know that you cannot really fly just because you have that on right. OK I am totally Excited ! This year's crop far exceeds any other crop I have had. And I had some big crops when we lived in Raymond!

To date I have packaged 36 pints of green beans,24 pints of carrots,22 pints of beets, 18 Quarts of sketti sauce, ( we ate one- couldn't resist :)) and I haven't even frozen the corn-staying up to do those.We have about 50-60 corns and that's only about half the rest is'nt done yet. I am hoping to get 52 qts of sauce. I will probably far exceed that!

What a great year for our garden! What a huge Blessing!

I just have to say that Most of you know what a really rough year I have been having.I just wanted to tell all of my friends and family just how much they -YOU - all mean to me. One of my friends says that she looks for the miracles that she has every day. I count all of you as that miracle. Out of all the bad/trying things that I have been doing this year,there you all are helping me through it. so Thank you!
Thank you family that is always there.Funny thing about family they really don't have to be there,but Mine is.I am truly grateful for 2 sisters-in-law that have lived up to the sister name better than anyone ever could.
Thank you Friends that have moved out of my state but not away from me. You are cherished and truly loved!I had a hard time when 2 of my closest friends moved this year.I needed them . But I must say I never lost them. They are still just a call or e-mail away and I am grateful for that. I am grateful that as we age we realize the old addage- make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver the other gold-is actually true.I guess that it amazes me that true friendship never really goes away .I am grateful that I have been reacquainted with a close brother like friend after 15 years.And that after 15 years apart we still have a great relationship.Kind of picked up right where we left off.I am grateful for my children's laughter every day,their hugs and kisses.My daughters love and my sons joy for life.I am truly grateful that I have an honorable husband that will really, in the end of everything ,do anything for me.He holds me up when he knows I am about to fall.When I tell him to go ,he stays. For that I am truly grateful.I am so grateful for my Mothers strength. She does not see it but,she is a beautiful ,strong and compassionate woman,that I look up to every day.I wish that some day she can see herself through my eyes,and know what and who she truly is.

OK so Jake has all of these items in this coffee can and runs out in the living room and says "Hey Mom listen, this makes a wonderful noise" Liz Says "yeah wonderful noise" as he is making quite a racket. Two seconds later the noise stops I look over to see the "noise" everywhere .The top popped off the coffee can.

I think the mess made him even happier than the "noise" LOL

This is what 4 weeks of rain and a little farm fresh fertilizer (OK some miracle grow but I stopped that weeks ago) will do ! the tomatoes are taller than me and the corn is WAY taller than Eric.The Tomatoes started as seedlings in my greenhouse in April.

Animal antics

Tonight I went to look in on my pig that is in the bottom pen. He was down there by himself because his brother was naughty and decided to roam. Any way I realize that he is not moving his hind leg and go in to investigate(yeah that was pretty yucky) and low and behold we think he broke his hind leg. This is at 8 pm. So I go to the house and get Big Eric. We have to get him in the upper barn where it is drier and we can keep an eye on him he says. ok this pig is at least 250+lbs! So he says we will go get the tractor and hoist him out and haul him up to the barn.(notice the WE part)
So he gets the tractor and I get the tow straps and away we go down to do this Very Dirty deed.
I was up to my Knees in Muck (remember the 3 weeks of rain we have had) and trying to put 2 tow straps around the body of the pig and get him tied up before he can figure out what WE are actually doing to him. That was fun!I strap him up and Eric hooks the straps to the backhoe. Up he goes . Well if you have ever heard a pig squeel you would have been belly laughing at this one. picture this pig hoisted up with a backhoe squeeling away at now almost 9 at night. The neighbors even came out to see what was going on ! LOL
Things are never boring around here, that is for sure!

Belchertown

I saw the sign for this town on our way down to the hotel Friday night and Liz said "Hey, Dad, there is your exit!"

On the way home I made him go 12 miles out of our way and pay a $1.50 toll to find the sign that said "Welcome to Belchertown" well this was the only one they had. They are "belching" in the picture LOL

Well I must say after the crazy summer I have been having ,Animals getting out,dog getting hit by a car (is totally fine by the way), cub camp drop off at 8:30 am, work ....Etc etc.
I have to say that I am greatly blessed that I have a great set of family and friends. So thanks everyone! I also have (around the crazyness) been having a great summer with my kids.
I secretly went shopping with Lizzie yesterday at the mall! What a great time we had! Didn't really buy any thing, just some good quality time.
I am also glad that my Dad, Although not doing great, is still in great spirits! That is such a great thing.And that My Mom has incredible strength, even though she doesn't realize it!
So go about your day today and ask yourself How many blessing can I count? I bet they out weigh the bad things in life!

This is my garden this year!

I am so excited that it is doing so well. It is 40x40 ft and going crazy! The kids hold my first crop of green beans and beets! Yummy!I have 48 Tomato plants that will fill my cupboards with lots of Sketti sauce!

Just another Night on the farm

Ok so We had some fun last night with Buster our Bull.
He decided to break out of his pen last night around midnight. Yup I was just falling to sleep when I hear the neighbors dogs going nuts and see blue lights flashing outside my bedroom window. Out the window I look to see my big ol' bull standing in my front lawn staring at Deerfields finest(and youngest) Officer. Who was lucky enough to have the "easy " night shift.
I come out and say to my bull "What are you doing Buster" and the Officer says "Ma'am Is this your Cow?"" yes it is" I say and I walk over to him and grab him by the ear.(this being a 1000+lb Bull) He says "Oh well He didn't like me . When I put a rope around him He charged me and My Cruiser" I says "yeah You just have to Grab him By the ear and he'll be fine." The Doubtfull Officer then watched-at a more than resonable distance- as I escorted good ol Buster back to the Barn. It took a little cajoling, but finally got him into his pen, just as I was getting him settled Out comes Big Eric who scared the night lights out of the nice young officer and made him jump about 2 feet. When I got inside I was laughing so hard and and couldnt fall asleep for hours. The look on his face -Priceless-I will be laughing about this one for weeks.

We had a great time in December 07. We cruised to Calica, Mexico,Eric's favorite thing to do was... yup you guessed it ,EAT! Sandy did a little monkeying around (and had to pay 50 paso's to get that pic). We did some horseback riding on the beach and shopping in Playa del Carmen .

Ft Lauderdale had an awesome sunrise at the end of the trip!
